"Sticky" Teaching

We read an article that discussed the importance of creating lesson plans that "stick." As stated in Teaching that Sticks by Heath, C. and Heath, D (2007), they stated that there are six traits that help create a lesson stick. It must be the following:

1. Simple

2. Unexpected

3. Concrete

4. Credible

5. Emotional

6. Story

In today's class, we created a skit on the entire first week's lesson.

We became rock climbers!

We impersonated experts and novices. The novices asked a lot of questions and the experts gave them support. We used the people around us to help guide us- our Personal Learning Network!

One of our experts expressed the importance of using your gear and technique and knowing the mountain to succeed! (TPACK)

(After 3hrs we made it to a stopping point on the mountain and realized we forgot our gear.)

But everything worked out! We used the materials around us to make do! (Maker movement)

And that's the "sticky" way to remember week one of our MAET courses!
